Significance in leadership begins with and is ultimately sustained by the ability to understand and manage our self. In other words, the greatest investment any leader can make is to pay attention to who they are on the inside. Steve's presentation will make you smile, challenge your perspective and inspire you to new ways of doing things. You'll appreciate his sense of humor and ability to weave practical insight into leadership principles that can impact both the workplace and everyday living.

During his presentation he encourages, inspires and informs. His style is high energy and he is passionate about his topic. His goal is for people to leave excited to live out the principles discussed and feel empowered with a clear image of possibilities bigger than themselves. He will give attendees several tools that that they can take with them and apply to both their personal and professional life. He will talk about how we can impact our own leadership and also with the organizations we serve.

BIO

Steve Dickie is the Founder and Executive Director of The CharacterWorks Group, an organization that coaches leadership, team development and life change from the inside out. 

Steve has been at the forefront in developing character programs for college basketball. He also works with corporations, community initiatives, school systems, leadership groups and individual leaders in self-leadership and team development.

Steve served as the Character Development Coach for Wichita State Shockers Basketball for 10 years. He was an important component in seasons that included 7 straight invitations to the NCAA tournament, 4 Conference Championships, a run to the Final Four and an undefeated regular season. Steve also served the Aftershocks, a Shocker alumni team participating in the national TBT Tournament. Steve has been featured on ESPN and written about in Sports Illustrated and several national and regional publications including the Wichita Eagle, Kansas City Star, Saint Louis Post-Dispatch and the Kansas Leadership Journal.

Originally from Southern California, Steve graduated from California State University, Fullerton. Steve has worked with students, adults and families for over 30 years in California and Kansas. Steve is the author of 6 books and numerous periodicals and is a popular speaker at conferences, churches, schools and universities, as well as business, leadership and community groups.

Steve is passionate about creative leadership, discovering the simple in the abstract, exploring new ways to do old things, empowering the extraordinary out of the ordinary and helping people align their abilities and talents with a purpose bigger than themselves.

Steve has been married to Linda, a former ESOL (English as a Second Language) teacher and current CharacterWorks Group co-founder, for 36 years. Their son, Joshua, is a business management leader and soccer coach, who is married to Carrie, lead food scientist with the Corbion Foods Corporation. Steve and Linda are proud grandparents to 2-year old grandson, Gabriel and have a great dog named Thor and a very cool cat named Scout.
